Quickbooks Login

self management more….

Before I show you my portfolio of the top Internet tools that will definitely assist you to work remotely, I need to bring to your attention one more item connected with self discipline and specifically to do with keeping your focus and levels of concentration

I’ve identified and confirmed a common habit in acquaintances who work on the web and I’ve been in contact with for over a long time line and I call this trait the fifty min rule. I observed these members of both sexes who concentrate and work for fifty minutes and then always take a whole 10 minute break and are much more efficient and produce a considerably higher quality of work than friends who don’t have set working methods.

OK as promised I present you with my list of preferred remote working web applications:

E-Mail

Google Mail has a price tag of zero. For my money the search and label (similar to folders) functions are the best implementation I have encountered. The only disadvantage so far is that I have seen it run quite slowly on lower spec.computers

Phone calls

Skype
occasionally drove me to despair as the call quality and reliability was unacceptable, but hats off for the engineers at Skype now as they have really improved the quality of the service. For few dollars a month they enable me to call and conference in any telephone and Skype subscriber in the world. The latest version of Skype has a wealth of really good functions and there are now plenty of of useful add ons.

Organising Content

Evernote
has secured in excess of a million users in no time at all – it enables you to store, organise and add notes to any type of digital content up on the Internet. Just go check it out…it’s free.

Invoicing, Time and Expenses capture, Accounting and CRM

You surely know that my ambition to work remotely was originally motivated by Quickbooks Online, a small business accounting software web application. But it is no match for the free edition of salesorder.com – a lead to cash system that’s as easy to use as a pencil I looked at NetSuite whose pricing (and people) scared me off. My choice here is salesorder.com – Go check it out.

Remote Working Part 2 – Best practises

Quickbooks online edition

The top reason members of both sexes fail to adjust to operating remotely is they don’t realise the essential requirement of high-quality organisation and solid self discipline.

I have been toiling remotely for over seven years since I first found Quickbooks online an ‘on demand’ small business accounting software web application and was blown away by the fact that if you can do accounting on the Internet then why shouldn’t it be practical to perform other key types of of work at a distance?

Whilst working remotely has its obvious perks there are numerous things that workers don’t realise which evolve into issues that result in decreased work output and reduced morale. The key reason for low work output from remote employees is distraction and it is a proven and well known fact that it can take a person up to twenty minutes to return to their original efficiency level after experiencing an interruption.

Deeper insights reveal that individuals who are continuously affected by interruptions are more likely to be susceptible to decreased memory ability and are prone to developing mental health issues in later life. We live in an over communicated time and it is essential that you recognise the problems this causes before you commence working remotely. When operating remotely you should do everything possible to mitigate the probability of being disrupted.

Here are things that really do work:

1, Get a routine, make sure that everybody knows it and stick to it!

Good examples are a consistent time of day when you look at or send electronic mail and make or receive phone conversatiions. Before I began working remotely I used to get in the region of 200 e-mails in 24 hours. Now I think I am unfortunate if I receive more than 5. To ‘restart’ my e-mail experience I altered my e-mail address and tenaciously took steps to shield the details being made known to anyone. I then ‘trained’ everybody who I gave my e-mail address to, to use it wisely and sparingly. I also set up an auto-responder that swiftly informed anyone sending me mail at what time of day I would be attending to mail and if an item required my immediate attention to mark it as ‘Urgent’.

2. Get rid of alerts.

Turn off every feature that can send you a visual or audible alert. This includes mobile and
ordinary phones and types of alerts from electronic mail such as display events, warning sounds, screen changes to your inbox list and of course facing a window. Get a door on your work place and put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on it.

In ‘Remote Working Part 3 – Top tools and tricks’ I will reveal my favourite tools and software.

Remote Working Part 1 – Beginners guide (Overview)

Quickbooks online edition

Obviously not everyone is able to work remotely as lots of careers require us to go to their place of work or travel to undertake their work face to face. But for those of us who are able to work remotely then I thought it would be useful to share what I have learned and present some practical guidance by distributing it online with the sole objective of providing valuable timesavers for adapting to remote working or managing remote workers.

I can tell you that there are a substantial number of people on the net who will try and persuade you to purchase online education for vast sums of money, take my word for it you don’t have to do this.

I am fortunate to be permitted to work in whatever location I choose and just about everybody who asks me what work I do wants to get details of how I manage to work remotely. Don’t get the wrong idea I am still perfecting the science of remote working as each day I discover people on the web who teach me new methods and I am repeatedly unearthing new technologies and processes that make my life simpler and increase my productivity.

Throughout the past seven years I have significantly adapted my working practices to let me to do most of my work remotely with a mixture of online tools and rigid self discipline. One late night whilst browsing the web I came across Quickbooks online and this made me aware of what just might be possible. My encounter with ’cloud’ based ‘on demand’ small business accounting software was a significant event for me and the beginning of my ‘remote working journey’.

I have to mention up front that efficiently working remotely is as much about the systems as it is about self management. Working remotely also means stating to your team members, superiors and customers as to what they can expect and how they will maintain contact with you.

In ‘Remote Working Part 2 – Staying focused and maintaining concentration’ I talk about how to focus.
