Authority - explained

The more authority your web pages have the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that searchers trust you and your content. The great news is that authorities trusted by people are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. • Paid backlinks – places where individuals purchase and sell backlinks
• Comment spam – entries that have links on web pages that are just not related to the main content.
• Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
• Fast growth – there are a large selection of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t dumb. Any sudden increase in the number of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s radar, specifically if it’s a brand new domain.
• Backlinks from ill reputed web pages – these are particularly destructive as you are guilty by association - need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on shakey ground, but large news properties seem to get a lot of authority and I have definitely seen significant quantities of the same content over and over again on different portals with no penalties, I am still looking at this, only as a percentage of the results I am seeing defy the normal behaviors I normally expect to see. how to get more backlinks

Call me mad (I am not) but I am offering people who are struggling with their web sites and getting visitor traffic free help and guidance, here is my justification.

Although excited at the time I have unpleasant memories of designing and putting up my first web presence back in 2000. Everyone who embarks upon the challenge of designing a web site should have someone to help. Establishing your first web site can look really hard if you are not sure of what you need to know.

Subjects like understanding the influence of back links and keywords, how they influence search engine page rankings and page authority, and the connection between these and visitor volumes are complicated and often badly taught by the majority of self proclaimed guru’s on the internet. I have discovered so many individuals on and offline who would like to do this and who don’t have the right knowledge that I decided to do something about it.

After thousands of hours of working on the web, finding, getting to know and practising methods to build successful web sites by attracting substantial volumes of traffic. I have decided to start teaching.

I have been contemplating this for about twelve months now and whenever I have had some free time I have been creating my teaching content. There is no point in creating a website unless you have thought about how you are going to get visitors. Regardless of whether you are creating web pages for business, as a hobby or to inform there will inevitable come a time when you are going to want get people to come to your web pages. Search engines stay in business by understanding what the user are searching for and delivering relevant results. The more relevant and precise the search results the better the user experience and therefore the greater the chance the user will user will return. So how do you go about doing this?. There are two paths to achieving this and the good news is you can if you have the money do both. You can write useful and relevant content or you can use the advertising methods offered by search engines and other properties.

Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . Search engines perform searches based upon the keyword or key phrase entered by the user. The search engine scans its index of web pages and returns the web pages it has decided are most relevant to the keyword or key phrase. Search engines use relevance and authority to decide what pages get returned and presented to the searcher.

Relevance is a function of the keywords in the text of the webpage and authority is determined by the number and type of back links . The order of the list of results displayed by a search engine are conducive with the authority and volume of the back links to each page.

Back links determine the fate of a web page and are a key consideration.

Back links have two key uses – influencing the search engines ranking decisions and directing traffic to your web site from other internet properties. Browsers who discover and click on back links containing keywords associated with their interests will be directed to your web pages. The technical term for text associated with a back link is “anchor text” and this play a role in the value attributed to every back link discovered by the search engines. Whilst all back links are of value some are more valuable than others.

Web pages with back links from authoritative pages acquire authority in the eyes of the search engines.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .

If you’ve been blogging for a while now, you’re probably wondering about what backlinks are, and how they can help you make money blogging more effectively.  Backlinks, which are also called “incoming links”, are links to your blog or blog pages that are put up on another blog or website.  If a fellow blogger puts up a link that directs his readers to your site, that in itself counts as a backlink.

This might all seem like an easy matter, but the truth is that backlinks pack a bigger punch than you would expect them to, especially when it comes to increasing your search engine ranking.  The more backlinks your blogger has, the higher its rank on search results will be.  Likewise, your blog will rank higher than another blog in search results for the same keyword if your site has more backlinks coursing to it.

1.  Comment on other blogs:
Don’t just keep yourself huddled in a little corner: let the blogosphere know of your presence by interacting with fellow bloggers, particularly those in the same niche as yours.  A good way to make yourself known is by posting relevant and well-thought out comments on other blogs.  This is also a very subtle way to create a backlink for your site:  simply type out your comment and include your URL at the foot of your message.  Even better: you can use your targeted keyword as your name, which will normally contain a link back to your own site.

2.  Hop onto forum boards:
Another way to collect more backlinks is by joining a forum board where you can socialize with other like-minded people about subjects that your blog is already dealing with.  Be active in these forum boards, and make informative and helpful contributions on various topics that might arise in these boards.  Be as polite and friendly as you can, leave your URL at your signature, and you’ll have people clicking over to your blog before you know it.

3.  Link baiting:
Link baiting is the practice of writing about hot news or controversial topics about the niche that your blog is focused on.  If you can pounce on breaking news about your niche and write a really good entry about that topic, you’re bound to get some people linking back to you.  This method’s a little trickier (because you’ll have to work at making your post unique and special), but it’s very good at making a lasting impression on your blog readers and visitors. Just make sure your title of your post contains the keyword that you’re targeting as it’ll be easy for webmasters to copy that as the anchor text for their backlinks to your blog post.

Although getting backlinks is a major priority for professional bloggers, you shouldn’t let that take precedence over writing good and reliable content for your readers to enjoy.  No amount of backlinks can support a poorly kept blog, so try to get as many legitimate backlinks as you can without neglecting your content.
