How to start with article marketing?
The Internet is full of content-rich articles that readers can use for informative purposes; this is also a cheap way for advertisers to spread the word about their companies. Search engines also favor fresh content hence, articles and keywords will help you match the new trends and be profitable with any online activity you may be running. And since content rules, the demand for article marketing articles has reached unprecedented levels. Why article marketing? Primarily because it provides very cheap advertising, and secondly the market exposure is incredible thanks to backlinks.
The categories and types of informational content are very numerous; some articles are just fiction, while others provide solid, reliable content. If articles manage to meet the readers’ needs, and transform simple web surfers into business customers or prospects, then the objective of article marketing is achieved. These very paragraphs that you are reading now will turn the material in question one of the article marketing articles published in article directories for business advertising. The purpose for all these is to help the user or reader develop the right skills to make money with article marketing, even if information becomes an advertising tool under the circumstances.
Go through various article marketing articles to find out how to research the niche. Content writing has lots of challenges to it, and you need a bit of skill for such an activity. Therefore, the strongest recommendation goes towards those areas that make you comfortable, or in which you take pleasure. Planning plays an important role here, because you need to decide on the number of articles you are going to write daily, weekly or monthly. When work is finished, there follows submission to blogs and directories.
Keywords are the most important for article marketing. Articles ought to take the keyword as the main topic, because you can thus define a certain aspect of your domain, product or service in a more comprehensive way. If you are successful in these aspects, it is likely that you will profit well from article marketing. The writing style, the spelling, the grammatical correctness also matter greatly, besides keywords.
You will submit articles to large directories like Enzinearticles.com or GoArticles.com in order to make the best of article marketing. You can receive a good exposure on the world wide web and build a good author’s profile. Multiple applications for business purposes are then possible starting from the content created for various websites. Have a look on what article marketing materials offer in terms of information and you will be able to determine what course of action to take for business promotion.
Backlinks = visitors
Backlinks sometimes described as ‘page links’ are key to the visibility of your web pages in the search engines and attracting visitor traffic. Backlinks have three key elements, the source from which the backlinks are derived, the anchor text of the backlinks and the content of the page to which the backlinks sends the visitor to.
The volume of backlinks
Just about all of the search engines appraise the volume of backlinks to a web page when deciding where this page should be displayed in the search results.
The origin of the backlinks
Backlinks are like votes - the higher the volume of votes (backlinks) the more authoritative the page is considered by the search engine. So it follows that pages with backlinks from ‘trusted pages will receive fairer consideration from the search engines. Pages from sources such as educational (.edu) or government (.gov) sites naturally are attributed with more trust and authority.
Google Page Rank
Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a value awarded by Google to any page that it has observed over a period to have attracted, sustained and continued to accumulate relevant backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.
The ‘anchor text’
When you see a backlink on a web page it often has a label a word or text related to the subject at the page to which this backlink is pointing, what this ‘anchor text’ says has influence upon the value the search engines attribute to the link. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for sites related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’.
Common issues
It’s not unusual for novices to confuse the quantity with the quality of backlinks and easily be perplexed by their lack of progress Having a significant amount of backlinks to your page doesn’t automatically mean the search engines will consider your page as relevant.
How to create backlinks
So here is my risk free guidance for getting backlinks to your pages, great positions in the search engine results pages and quality traffic to your web pages.
- It is critical you get the right keywords before you expend any effort whatsoever.
- I like to build a keyword ‘cloud’.
- You should always begin by identifying a key word or phrase which has a good traffic.
- To work out the amount of visitor traffic is being generated by searches for my primary keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool.
- I look at words and search phrases relative to my primary phrase and create my ‘cloud’.
- From this cloud I create a library of content containing articles, videos and blog posts each with backlinks embedded with the appropriate anchor text and then use a suite of content distribution tools to send my materials to a group of directories.
- My golden rule is to author content that will attract traffic and persuade them to follow the backlinks to my target pages as well as send backlinks.
Backlinks methods you should avoid
Hmmmm, this is a big subject and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my work at the Backlinks clinic:
Authority - explained
The more authority your web pages have the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that searchers trust you and your content. The great news is that authorities trusted by people are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These domains imply they are credible sources of information and it’s a proven fact that in the eyes of Google backlinks from these domains to your site will send authority to your site. Another great example is Wikipedia as the web pages here are largely authored by by group of humans as opposed to a single marketer.
So it follows that authority is largely influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative web pages link to your web pages then you receive their authority and as far as Google is concerned you become more authoritative and so the trust in your content by Google goes up.
How Google decides what is and isn’t authoritative is undisclosed for solid reasons and falls in line with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the Internet needs is an individual or a group exploiting the formulae that Google employs in its efforts to try and bring some order to probably the most important technological resource of our times.
How not to get Backlinks
In the same vein it’s valuable to state some common sources and methods of acquiring backlinks that Google not only disapproves of but appears to be acting to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the common offenders are:
- Paid backlinks – places where individuals purchase and sell backlinks
- Comment spam – entries that have links on web pages that are just not related to the main content.
- Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
- Fast growth – there are a large selection of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t dumb. Any sudden increase in the number of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s radar, specifically if it’s a brand new domain.
- Backlinks from ill reputed web pages – these are particularly destructive as you are guilty by association - need I say more.
*There is another factor where I may be on shakey ground, but large news properties seem to get a lot of authority and I have definitely seen significant quantities of the same content over and over again on different portals with no penalties, I am still looking at this, only as a percentage of the results I am seeing defy the normal behaviors I normally expect to see. More on this is in a future article….

I don’t claim to be an SEO Guru but I will show you how to get back links
Call me mad (I am not) but I am offering people who are struggling with their web sites and getting visitor traffic free help and guidance, here is my justification.
Although excited at the time I have unpleasant memories of designing and putting up my first web presence back in 2000. Everyone who embarks upon the challenge of designing a web site should have someone to help. Establishing your first web site can look really hard if you are not sure of what you need to know.
Subjects like understanding the influence of back links and keywords, how they influence search engine page rankings and page authority, and the connection between these and visitor volumes are complicated and often badly taught by the majority of self proclaimed guru’s on the internet. I have discovered so many individuals on and offline who would like to do this and who don’t have the right knowledge that I decided to do something about it.
After thousands of hours of working on the web, finding, getting to know and practising methods to build successful web sites by attracting substantial volumes of traffic. I have decided to start teaching.
I have been contemplating this for about twelve months now and whenever I have had some free time I have been creating my teaching content. Every one who is not sure where to start or already creating a presence on the web wants a quick win, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have discovered high quality material and tools that work I am going to direct my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.
Everything I have reviewed that has delivered good or excellent results will be included in my educational material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. Obviously along the way I have created some techniques, tools and methods of my own that I constantly use which I will be including in the training.

Back links – the basics
There is no point in creating a website unless you have thought about how you are going to get visitors. Regardless of whether you are creating web pages for business, as a hobby or to inform there will inevitable come a time when you are going to want get people to come to your web pages. Put all of your efforts into getting as much traffic as you can from the search engines. The best type of visitor traffic comes from search engines as it’s free and it’s targeted.
Search engines stay in business by understanding what the user are searching for and delivering relevant results. The more relevant and precise the search results the better the user experience and therefore the greater the chance the user will user will return. More users returning, means more popularity and more sales. The challenges are the exactly the same for you and your website.Acquire users and keep them coming back.
So how do you go about doing this?. There are two paths to achieving this and the good news is you can if you have the money do both. You can write useful and relevant content or you can use the advertising methods offered by search engines and other properties.
Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . Search engines perform searches based upon the keyword or key phrase entered by the user. The search engine scans its index of web pages and returns the web pages it has decided are most relevant to the keyword or key phrase. Search engines use relevance and authority to decide what pages get returned and presented to the searcher.
Relevance is a function of the keywords in the text of the webpage and authority is determined by the number and type of back links . The order of the list of results displayed by a search engine are conducive with the authority and volume of the back links to each page.
Back links determine the fate of a web page and are a key consideration.
Back links have two key uses – influencing the search engines ranking decisions and directing traffic to your web site from other internet properties. Browsers who discover and click on back links containing keywords associated with their interests will be directed to your web pages. The technical term for text associated with a back link is “anchor text” and this play a role in the value attributed to every back link discovered by the search engines. Whilst all back links are of value some are more valuable than others.
Web pages with back links from authoritative pages acquire authority in the eyes of the search engines.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .
Getting More Backlinks
If you’ve been blogging for a while now, you’re probably wondering about what backlinks are, and how they can help you make money blogging more effectively. Backlinks, which are also called “incoming links”, are links to your blog or blog pages that are put up on another blog or website. If a fellow blogger puts up a link that directs his readers to your site, that in itself counts as a backlink.
This might all seem like an easy matter, but the truth is that backlinks pack a bigger punch than you would expect them to, especially when it comes to increasing your search engine ranking. The more backlinks your blogger has, the higher its rank on search results will be. Likewise, your blog will rank higher than another blog in search results for the same keyword if your site has more backlinks coursing to it.
Some backlinks are even better at getting Google’s attention than others. These backlinks have keywords that your blog is already focused on, and another kind of backlink called “anchor text” contains these keywords and leads the reader to a specific blog post on your site. Here are a few tips on how you can get more of these links and land higher on search engine rankings:
1. Comment on other blogs:
Don’t just keep yourself huddled in a little corner: let the blogosphere know of your presence by interacting with fellow bloggers, particularly those in the same niche as yours. A good way to make yourself known is by posting relevant and well-thought out comments on other blogs. This is also a very subtle way to create a backlink for your site: simply type out your comment and include your URL at the foot of your message. Even better: you can use your targeted keyword as your name, which will normally contain a link back to your own site.
2. Hop onto forum boards:
Another way to collect more backlinks is by joining a forum board where you can socialize with other like-minded people about subjects that your blog is already dealing with. Be active in these forum boards, and make informative and helpful contributions on various topics that might arise in these boards. Be as polite and friendly as you can, leave your URL at your signature, and you’ll have people clicking over to your blog before you know it.
3. Link baiting:
Link baiting is the practice of writing about hot news or controversial topics about the niche that your blog is focused on. If you can pounce on breaking news about your niche and write a really good entry about that topic, you’re bound to get some people linking back to you. This method’s a little trickier (because you’ll have to work at making your post unique and special), but it’s very good at making a lasting impression on your blog readers and visitors. Just make sure your title of your post contains the keyword that you’re targeting as it’ll be easy for webmasters to copy that as the anchor text for their backlinks to your blog post.
Although getting backlinks is a major priority for professional bloggers, you shouldn’t let that take precedence over writing good and reliable content for your readers to enjoy. No amount of backlinks can support a poorly kept blog, so try to get as many legitimate backlinks as you can without neglecting your content.
